Twitter offers some promotional tools that can help you or your business get your message directly to your audience. These tools are very easy to use and in my experience have proven to be quite effective.

There are a couple of options when it comes to advertising on Twitter:

Promoted Accounts – This option will help your Twitter account gain followers. Promoted accounts should be used when you would like to be more discoverable on Twitter.

How Does it Work?

  • Your account is suggested to others based on targeted interests, geography, gender and keywords.
  • You are only charged when people follow your account.
  • You can track your promoted account with Twitter’s premium analytics. 

Promoted TrendsThis option will help you advertise an event you or your business may be involved in by using a specific hashtag. A promoted trend is something happening in real time (Example: #Easter)

How Does it Work?

  • You create your own hashtag trend and target them to specific audiences.
  • A  promoted trend is featured at the top of the Trends list for 24 hours.
  • When clicked the user is directed to your marketing message.

Promoted TweetsPromoted Tweets are normal Tweets that you want to reach a wider group of people. Theses tweets are targeted toward both current and potential followers.

How Does it Work?

  • You can target tweets by geography, interests, gender, device, and keywords.
  • You pay per engagement and can set a daily budget.
  • You have access to premium analytics to see how well your promotion is performing.
