The Legend of Zelda has finally arrived for the Oculus Rift! Ubiquitron from VirtualReality.io, has developed a 3D virtual reality version of the classic original NES adventure where you can explore the world of Hyrule through Link’s eyes.
In this version, nothing has changed as far as the layout of Hyrule, dungeons, or the way the enemies behave. You will still be able to explore the world, find items, fight badies, buy upgrades, discover secrets, conquer bosses, restore the Triforce, and of course rescue Princess Zelda from the evil Ganon.
Coming from a huge Legend of Zelda fan like myself, the results are very very promising!
To experience the game in all of its virtual 8bit wooden sword swinging glory, you can actually download The Legend of Zelda for Oculus Rift right now. (Of course you must have an Oculus Rift kit to play) Just keep in mind that it’s only a beta version. You will only be able to explore the overworld and the first dungeon. But don’t you worry, because the whole game is expected to be released this March.
For those gamers without an Oculus Rift, check out the video below for a game-play demonstration.
