Oculus VR announced that the retail version of the Oculus Rift hardware will be arriving in early 2016!
The Oculus Rift, which was purchased by Facebook last March, is a virtual reality headset that lets players step inside their favorite games and virtual worlds. Oculus had previously released two ‘development kits’, DK1 in late 2012 and DK2 in mid 2014, to give developers a chance to develop content in time for the Rift’s official release.
Their highly anticipated consumer model “builds on the presence, immersion, and comfort of the Crescent Bay prototype with an improved tracking system that supports both seated and standing experiences, as well as a highly refined industrial design, and updated ergonomics for a more natural fit” according to the company’s latest blog post.

No further details including the technical specifications of the hardware and pricing have come public, although we plan to find out more information in the upcoming weeks and even more when E3 rolls around.
