New York Comic Con is the biggest pop culture convention on the East Coast. This year’s gathering attracted more than 125,000 people, and for the sixth year in a row I had the pleasure of once again being part of it.
I went to NYCC with Anthony Pena of Undying Magic Design, and like years prior the convention halls were packed with attendees dressed up as their favorite characters from comic books, television and video games. For me personally, appreciating the artistic work of cosplayers will always make the day worthwhile.
Although this year my day was made right off bat by simply walking up and down the aisles of the convention. No less than an hour into my travels I had the luck of bumping into Steven Ogg – the voice actor for Trevor Philips in Grand Theft Auto V! He is one tall dude, and also one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet – which is funny due to the chaotic, and violent nature of the character he voices in GTA. After a quick picture (see above), and an exchange of pleasantries, I was pretty much completely fulfilled with my New York Comic Con 2013 experience right then and there.
Of course Anthony and I made our usual stops at all the big boy booths, and also visited some old friends from our days as exhibitors as well. The only swag I purchased all day was from the Square Enix booth, where I took home mini Aerith, and Sephiroth figurines. Unfortunately we had to skip many of the panels due to the sheer number of people in attendance, and the time it would taken out of our day, but we did however take a full day’s worth of pictures!
